Upon Our Arrival...
Based on the conditions that existed when we first arrived at Sea Glass Found, it felt like our stay was a surprise to Colin Albury and the on-site team and that little thought or planning went into our arrival and stay. Following are several examples:
-
Colin was late arriving at the Marsh Harbor dock, to pick up our party that was going straight to Sea Glass Found from the airport/harbor. Our schedule and what was to happen were communicated before our arrival (both Stan Ingram and Colin Albury were on the texts). The cab drivers said they had no clue who was to pick up our group at the dock (I was in the group that went to the grocery store, so not present). This created angst while my wife tried to reach me to find out where Colin was (as already stated, Colin knew when we were arriving). The cab drivers just sort of dumped my wife and the rest of the group (plus luggage) by the street and with Colin not there, left them there to figure it out on their own. Not a warm welcome.
-
There was no hand soap or dish soap in the kitchen or bathroom of any of the four houses or in the Cabana when we arrived. As bad as that was for our party, as we looked around at the other workers on site and observed the conditions described below, it caused us to be concerned about overall cleanliness (a couple workers were handling the ice). It does not seem possible that the individuals cleaning/maintaining the place could have done so with clean hands.
-
The coffee maker in the Harbor House did not work.
-
There was no propane in the BBQ grill in the Cabana.
-
No dishtowels or dishrags were put out in the kitchens of any of the houses or the Cabana (we eventually found a drawer at the Cabana that had some).
-
One of the golf carts was not working when we arrived; it was fixed about 24 hours later. Although operable, it had a busted frame which was likely dangerous (see picture below).
-
The windows of the Lodge House and the Loft House were so dirty when we arrived that they literally could not be seen out of. This was remedied by mid-day Sunday, the day after we arrived.
-
The hut where the beach chairs and toys were stored looked like a tornado hit it when we arrived. Also, my wife asked the non-Colin workers to help with setting up beach chairs and umbrellas late morning on Sunday. Initially they refused to help but eventually did. It looked like they reorganized the hut after the chairs and umbrellas were put out.
